INTRODUCTION

Agritourism dates back to the days when travelers, moving on horse-drawn carts, had to stop at inns in the countryside for the night. Also in the 17th century, in Russia, recreation in the summer season at dachas gained wide popularity among the nobility, which is a closer predecessor of modern agritourism. The so-called "dacha trade" emerged. People who rented summer cottages for the summer brought a good income to the local population through renting premises, as well as from the purchase of agricultural products. Over time, the popularity of this type of recreation decreased and as cities developed, more and more people left villages and villages and did not return there anymore. Subsequently, it was the densely populated cities that gave impetus to a new era in the development of agritourism.
In the highly developed countries of Europe, the modern type of agritourism dates back to the 80s of the last century. In Russia, a new round of development of agro-tourism began no more than 15 years ago. They started talking more actively about rural and agricultural tourism when the government of the Russian Federation made a decision to revive and develop rural areas. Agritourism began to be seen as an opportunity to diversify agricultural activities to generate additional income for the rural population.
The relevance of the study of the factors of the attractiveness of agritourism for consumers is due to the fact that in many regions there are active regional programs for the development of agritourism, including in the Jizzakh region. But according to the expert assessment of the Association of Agritourism, at the moment the demand for melon tourism is satisfied only by 15% and this gives us the right to assume that in the near future, agritourism will be one of the most promising areas of tourism development in Uzbekistan. But already now, many who are trying to master agritourism are faced with the problem of a lack of information resources. From a scientific point of view, the topic has been only partially studied by foreign researchers, and in the domestic literature the number of publications on this topic is extremely small. The number of practice-oriented studies is even less. All this to a certain extent hinders the development of agritourism, because more often than not, farmers have to follow a process of trial and error.
In our study, we will try to give a clear definition of agro-tourism, since at the moment all over the world this concept has different meanings. We will also try to determine the place of agritourism in the classification of types of tourism and highlight its distinctive features. Let us consider the approaches to the study of attractiveness in tourism and assess their applicability for our research. We will try to highlight the factors of attractiveness of agritourism and consider their significance for consumers using empirical research.
The choice of the Jizzakh region as one of the research objects is due to the large percentage of the urban population, the development of infrastructure and the presence of a large amount of natural resources, as well as small farms, which, in our opinion, are one of the key indicators in the development of agritourism in that or another area.
