In teaching, presence is the ability to command a room, hold pupils' attention, and create an atmosphere of focus and inspiration. Presence is also known as 'owning the room' or having gravitas. Think back to your school days as a pupil.
Teachers can use body language - a look, a position, a signal - to communicate simple, positive, and respectful messages to their students without saying a single word. Teachers can also help students become aware of what their own body language is saying.
