4. (i)Lesson Planing for Grammar (Present Simple Tense)
Students: 25 students, Pre- Intermediate level, age 13-14
Time: 45 minutes
Aim: To learn “Simple Present Tense on the context of “Jack’s diary”
Assumptions: - Students know most of the vocabulary.
Resources and Materials: Active Pen ,Active Board, “English in mind (2) students’ book pg 4.
Anticipated Problem: Some of the students might afraid to do presentation in front of the class. Encourage them to talk in pairs and next time try to present to the class.
Interaction and Time

In pairs let them talk about what do they do every day. As the questions like “ What do you do in the morning?”
“ What do you like to eat?”
“ How often do they play basketball?

Teach some blocking words from the Jack’s diary.
(pilot, biology, instruments)
Explain the meaning of these words.
Let them to repeat after the teacher.
Ask the form of these words.

Ask students to read the diary “Jack’s diary” and answers the questions.
compare their answers together with the partner before checking answers in open class.

Ask the students to underline simple present tense in the diary.

Write the two sentences on the board.
“I don’t play any instruments”
“I sing really badly”
“I am really bad at biology”
Let them repeat after the teacher. Check the stress and intonation of the students.
Write down the form in the board.
Sub + V infinitive…
Do/ Does + Sub….?
Sub + do/does+ not +….
Sub+ V to be + not+….

Give the students worksheets for simple present tense. Students read the questions and put the verbs in brackets into correct tense. Let them compare their answers together with the partner before checking answers in open class.

Ask the students to write down which food they like best/ What is their favourite colour/ Who is their favourite actor or actress/ etc and ask them to hide their answers. Ask one of the students to stand up and ask another students what are his answers. If he/ she can guess his/ her friends correct answers give points.
In turn do this with the rest of the class.
