Students: 25 students, Intermediate students. aged 15-16
Time: 55 minutes
Aim: To improve their writing composition on the context of “My Friend Rebacca”
Assumptions: Most vocabulary and structure are known by the students. They know the present perfect and present simple tense.
Resources and Materials: Active board, Active pen, “English in mind” students’ book pg 17.
Anticipated Problem: Some of them might be new students or recently transfer to this school. Let them think about their friends from their neighbourhoods.
Interaction and Time

Shows the pictures of the people and their friends. And ask them how many friends they have got. How did they meet each other? When did they get to know each other? Listen the answers as an open class.

Teach them some blocking words in composition “collage, techno, Green day”
Let them repeat after the teachers.
Ask the form of the words.

Review the present perfect tense ( has/have+ Vparticiple) and when to use it

Ask students to read the composition in pg 17 quickly and answer the question. Check their answers with a partner before feedback.

Ask students to read the composition again and find the two tenses used in composition. (present perfect and past simple).

Discuss the structure of the text—the first paragraph is about how they met, the second and third paragraphs are about things that happened a few years ago and also about the situation now.

Students think of one of their good friends and write a similar text about him/ her. Remind them about the tenses they should use.
(If they couldn’t finish give as a homework)
