은 영: 3월 5일이에요. 이번 주 토요일이에요.
마이클: 그럼 풍선하고 케이크를 삽시다. 생일 선물도 삽시다.
Eunyeong: I intend to give a surprise birthday party for Jenny.
Michael : When is Jenny’s birthday?
Eunyeong: It’s on March fifth, this Saturday.
Michael : Well, let’s buy some balloons and a birthday cake.
Let’s buy a birthday present, too.
[Grammar & Patterns] 1. 월, 일 These are counting units representing dates and are used with
Sino-Korean numbers such as ‘일, 이, 삼, 사….’
오늘이 몇 월 며칠이에요? What’s the date today?
4월 2일이에요. It’s April 2nd.
2. -(으)려고 하다 This ending attaches to action verb stems and expresses a plan or
intention. When the verb stem ends with a vowel, use ‘-려고 하다’.
When the verb stem ends with a consonant, use ‘-(으)려고 하다’.
저는 대사관에 가려고 해요.
I intend to go to the embassy.
저는 도서관에서 책을 읽으려고 해요
I intend to read a book in the library.
