[Conversation]
야마다: 제니 씨는 캐나다 사람이에요?
제 니: 아니요, 미국에서 왔어요. 야마다 씨는 어디에서 왔어요?
야마다: 저는 일본 도쿄에서 왔어요.
제 니: 그래요? 저는 다음에 일본에 한번 가고 싶어요.
Yamada: Jenny, Are you a Canadian?
Jenny : No, I came from America. Yamada, where are you from?
Yamada: I am from Tokyo in Japan.
Jenny : Really? Next time I would like to go to Japan once.

1. 에서 왔다
The marker ‘에서’ is the same as ‘at’ or ‘in’.
It indicates the place
where an action takes place. It is attached
to a noun and is always
followed by an action verb.
학교에서 공부해요.
I study at school.
Another meaning is ‘from’, indicating a starting point.
저는 태국에서 왔어요.
I came from Thailand.
2. -고 싶다
This form attaches to action verb stems and expresses the speaker’s
desire or wish for the realization of the concept denoted by the verb.
저는 한국말을 배우고 싶어요.
I want to study Korean.
여행을 가고 싶어요?
Do you want to travel?
