§ 2.3. Use of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) in teaching English
in independent education
Many professionals consider live, interactive classes preferable to the limited
education typically found in online courses. A live classroom environment gives
students the opportunity to ask questions of an experienced instructor, collaborate
and learn with other students, and provides invaluable social interactions that
promote mature, reflective thinking. It is argued that online courses have a definite
role to play in today's educational environment. Online courses can supplement
regular academic sessions or be accessible to non-traditional students, such as
working professionals or students with distance or financial constraints.
The use of OOOK in the organization of independent work of agricultural
students is of great importance in the autonomous development of their lexical
competence. We believe that enriching the course materials with materials focused
on their fields will lead to effective results. More emphasis on content-based
materials, i.e. materials based on specialization, increases the activity of students in
the organization of the independent learning process with the help of OOOKs. This
process allows students to achieve lexical perfection in English while adapting to
authentic situations. For example, the "Using Special Drones for Agriculture:
Make and Design Your Own Drone" course is an interesting course for students,
which provides detailed knowledge about drone technologies in modern
agriculture. in addition to imparting skills, it makes a significant contribution to the
development of students' lexical competence in English.
A deviation from the normal curriculum. Textbooks and handouts printed at
the beginning of each academic year are inherently inconsistent and may even
provide outdated information. When used in conjunction with online courses and
digital tools, these static materials become knowledge gathering spaces that allow
students to access the vast amount of information available online. This
combination of classroom learning and online technology is called "blended
learning" and many experts consider it the gold standard of education. In fact,
studies show that having students watch interactive online videos more than
traditional lectures can help them retain knowledge by up to 60 percent. The
variety, variety and focus of the material will increase students' interest in it. For
example, in educational processes organized for the agrarian domain, in addition to

the course syllabus, showing a short video clip called "How to plow a garden" and
giving students independent assignments based on writing down the terms
mentioned in it, translating them, and composing the sentences they participated in
increases lexical skills. can be a very good tool.
Asynchronous learning. One of the most powerful advantages of online
courses is that they allow students to learn at a time, place, and pace that best suits
their personal learning style. Don't like getting up early for classes? It is also
possible to start online classes at any time of the day when there is very little time
to get to class. Do you teach classes with complex, repetitive lectures and
materials? With online courses, you can watch lectures multiple times or even
listen at a slower speed. If there is an argument in class, you can take the time to
collect your thoughts rather than competing for the teachers attention. For many
students, asynchronous learning, or self-study online, helps avoid distractions in
class, fully absorb the material, and stay on track with learning goals.
We believe that effective use of video lectures on asynchronous learning
among agricultural students can act as an accelerator of lexical competence. For
example, presenting the video “The future of farming”
67
to students as an
independent work, assigning the task of discussing it in small groups in parts, they
independently develop the skill of collective asynchronous learning. The
discussion of lexical units in it during the lesson helps to increase students'
vocabulary.
Personalized education. Online courses not only allow students to learn
when, where, and how they want, but when combined with advanced software
platforms, these courses and tools can provide personalized learning. One way to
teach low-achieving students and ensure the engagement of advanced students is to
use online tools that are tailored to each student's needs.
Support for non-traditional students. Online courses can greatly help non-
traditional students, such as working professionals or students who live too far
from a university campus or cannot afford the high cost of traditional education.
Until online courses were available, these students would not have been able to
achieve their educational goals. In addition, as online education has become more
widespread and digital learning technologies have advanced, so has its overall
quality. As a result, many employers view online degree and qualification courses
as important indicators of digital training and career advancement.
Also, by non-traditional students we can understand part-time or second
major students. In order to achieve mastery of lexical units in English language
classes in agricultural fields, it is advisable to organize the materials presented to
students studying in such an order taking into account factors such as their
geographical location, internet speed, and level of knowledge. Unlike traditionally
educated students, non-traditional students may not always have this opportunity.
Taking this into account, the lexical tasks given to them should be somewhat
simpler in terms of content, volume, and content.

Removing obstacles and adding revenue streams. As online courses expand
student learning opportunities, they open up new revenue streams for colleges and
universities. For example, a teacher can now lecture to a single audience of
students who are either attending alone or watching and interacting from a digital
device.
Due to radical changes in living and working conditions, the previous
generation has to constantly re-learn and adapt. Today, a successful person in the
development of the direction of society is one who can quickly find the necessary
information and use it effectively to solve various problems. One of them is a new
phenomenon in the field of world education, which is characteristic of the
information society - widespread massive open online courses (OOOC). Experts in
the field of education have listed more than 30 prospective trends in the
development of education among OOOK until 2028.

The popularization of this form of distance education provides several
conveniences for users. In particular, as a result of MOOCs, several users are
improving their knowledge in additional fields. Agriculture students have the
opportunity to independently obtain an additional certificate by studying in English
language schools outside their field at the same time. All they need is a desire to
use their free time effectively, a high-quality Internet, a smartphone or a computer.
Later, students can present their course certificates in English classes as proof of
their independent work. This, in turn, serves as an important tool for meeting the
requirements of organizations not only during the period of study, but also when
starting a job after graduation. In the process of independent education, the wide
use of MOOC creates the basis for the expansion of students' knowledge at various
levels. In particular, well-known courses such as Coursera, Khan academy, edX
courses, British council free online mooc, which have a large number of users for
learning English, serve as a good resource for students not only to do independent
work, but also to strengthen their knowledge at a high level.
Massive open online courses are one of the most effective forms of distance
learning technology (DLT), internet courses based on open and interactive
