-
Remind Mentees that the purpose of observations and feedback is to help us all become educators. We learn by observing others and reflecting on our own lessons.
-
Introduce PQP feedback
-
Write PQP on the board. Ask Mentees what it means.
-
Praise: tell about something you liked or that went well
-
Question: ask a question you have about the method or activity
-
Polish: Offer a suggestion or advice about how to make the activity even better
-
PQP Turn & Talk
1. Why do we need praise feedback on our lessons?
2. Why do we need polish feedback on our lessons?
-
Remind Mentees we need both praise and polish to help us improve.
-
Praise helps us know what we did well so we can repeat it.
-
Polish helps us improve our techniques.
-
Ask Mentees to look at the CoP Observation Rubric and sentence starters in the Post-Observation Conversation Template to help them give feedback.
-
Give each Mentee a sticky note.
-
Ask Mentees to write Presenter 1’s name at the top of the sticky note.
-
Mentees will write their PQPs on the sticky note.
-
Ask the first Mentee to present their activity.
-
Presenters can share the activity or micro-teach the activity.
-
After the activity, give Mentees 5 minutes to write their PQPs.
-
Ask a few Mentees to share a Praise and either a Question or a Polish.
-
Repeat with the second Mentee.
-
After oral feedback, Mentees pass the sticky note PQPs to the presenters so they can read all the feedback.
