2.1. The characteristics of the Grammar translation method
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the grammar translation method for teaching foreign languages first emerged. Typically, this approach is taught in a classical or extinct language like Latin or Greek [22,78]..

The major goal of this approach is to improve their vocabulary and literary comprehension. And for this reason, this approach is also known as the Classic approach. However, this Classical approach to transcribing the Grammar came to be accepted in the 19th century.

We see the key features of the grammar translation method:
1. The primary goal of the grammar translation method is language study for the aim of developing mental discipline and intellectual growth.
2. Reading and writing abilities are prioritized more than speaking and listening abilities.
3. GTM learns vocabulary through translating, memorizing, and learning vocabulary via reading texts that are being taught by teachers.


4.Sentences are chosen as the main unit of instruction and language practice.
5. He is concerned with the translation's and grammar's precision.
6. Grammar rules are taught in GTM classes, followed by examples.
7. The target language is used less frequently by teachers while instructing in their mother tongue.
8. The traditional roles of knowledge transmitters and knowledge receivers are still played by teachers and students.
Objectives. As we already established, the primary goal of the Grammar translation method is to improve Latin and Greek literature in order to make use of the intellectual prowess and mental discipline that come from studying a foreign language.
1. The literature written in the target language can be read by students.
2. They are proficient in translating both into and out of the target language.
3. They can improve their reading and writing abilities.
