THE IMPORTANCE OF READING AND WRITING IN TEACHING 
PROCESS

Learning of English as a second or foreign language has a goal that we are as a teachers 
have is to develop learners’ skills and provide them effective ways of learning. We can do that by 
using reading and writing, through interactive methods and lesson planning. Within this space, 
learning a language is to enable learners to communicate in language. Language skills are learned 
more completely in classroom. Surrounded by reading and writing, learners can learn easier and 
facilitate understanding their language abilities. 
Literacy has traditionally means as reading and writing. As well as these are essential 
components of knowledge and learning language. As children enter the school system, they begin 
process of learning with writing and reading. In school system skills of learning, ability to 
understand, create and communicate are shaped by helping skills of reading and writing. Pupils 
acquired these skills with learning to write elements of phonology and orthography. Teacher 
interacts to pupil assimilated the experience of reading process of learning language with many 
different forms of text, in print and digital forms, using words, visual and graphics. Pupils begin to 
learn the rules language by helps of reading. Native language underpinnings are assimilated with 
writing and reading. These skills are significant for acquiring information, evaluating it and 
ethically use foreign language and communicating effectively.
Learners must acquire languages skills in native languages, so it is easier for them to do 
exercises in foreign language. They engage learning opportunities and age of learner’s abilities and 
cognitive skills in order to enhance the quality of the lesson and improve learner’s knowledge. 
Young learners learn from everything around them, from games and various different types of 
activities. Writing and reading are not important for them as adult learners. Adult learners have 
languages skills. They have enough vocabulary to communicate, to do tasks individually. Writing 
and reading for every subject is a main part of understanding teaching process. These skills use not 
only in school but in every aspect of daily life. We read newspapers, advertisements, we write 
letters, e-mails, reports and blogs.
Reading and writing is the key of the literacy. In modern world there is another mean of 
literacy as knowledge and competence in a specific area. Literacy applies critical analysis, inference 
and synthesis to write with accuracy and coherence, to use information from text and create 
thought.
