Don’t feel that you are giving up anything good by avoiding porn, or that you need to constantly repress your sexual thoughts and be uncomfortable. Rather you should feel free and joyous, a sexual liberation and freedom from all the problems porn has caused. You will now have the ability to transform your sexual energies into whatever you want. Quitting porn is a permanent quest towards a lasting outcome. If you already reach freedom but go back, it may be much harder to break free again. Section 3: During Your Recovery Live a Healthy Lifestyle Diet A healthy diet is paramount in recovery. Eating well can obviously lead to a big improvement in how you feel. Make sure you are getting enough nutrition. Be well-diversified in your diet and try to stick to natural/organic foods to the best of your ability. Certain foods may be more beneficial when it comes to sexual health. These include a wide range of different types of food, such as fennel, raw oysters, and bananas, to name a few. I strongly recommend looking up what foods are most healthy for improving sexual health and considering your own needs. Stick to these foods and try eating them on a weekly basis. Other great foods I recommend are duck, steak, and various seafoods. Go for foods with high nutritional density. Be bold to go for new and unique foods that you rarely eat or haven’t tried before, as these may contain the nutrition that you are lacking in. It is so important that during recovery, you are eating as well as you possibly can. Obviously, these foods become a part of your body, so you want to bring in only the best. If you are having physical symptoms, like chronic discomfort or any problems due to sexual exhaustion, you may benefit greatly from getting more nutrition. Chances are you may be lacking something which causes you to feel that way. For example, the seafood you get in sushi can be very helpful at restoring micronutrients and bringing the body to a healthy state. This can be surprisingly effective and reverse things overnight if you have had chronic fatigue, weakness, or mental exhaustion. Just like how quitting porn requires experimenting with different techniques to see what works, try experimenting with what foods work best for your body. Treat this as a good opportunity to learn and you may be surprised. For example, try excluding unhealthy meats, gluten, or carbs from your diet and notice if anything changes. Being a conscious eater can be beneficial and feel good. One key piece of advice: try to avoid getting too hungry during the recovery process. Sexual urges and hunger may be closely tied. The body may mistake hunger for sexual cravings, which often feel similar, especially for the addicted mind. Eating consistently to avoid being too hungry or full is the best approach. If you fast for religious reasons or if you feel that it benefits your willpower, that may be helpful as well. Just make sure you are aware and doing it deliberately, rather than getting hungry and not noticing. Don’t mistake being hungry as a need for sex. Again, consume a diverse diet, making sure you are not lacking anything that may benefit you. Though this differs on an individual basis, vegan/vegetarian diets are often insufficient if not thought through properly. Many other diets are fads – eating an arbitrary subset of foods generally has not been proven to get results. Implementing this probably is easier than it sounds. Your body has a good idea of what it needs. When you make a right choice, you will be rewarded and enjoy the feeling of getting something good. Treat eating as a sensory enjoyment – something obviously healthy and fun, making your body stronger, unlike what the filth of porn does to you. Health supplements might be helpful when combined with a healthy diet. Some supplements that those recovering from sexual exhaustion have used include Vitamin B, Vitamin D3, 5-HTP, Omega-3, Valerian root, Ashwagandha root, zinc, magnesium, calcium, potassium, ginseng, and traditional Chinese medicine (which is created unique for you, after seeing a doctor, talking about your situation, and having them feel your pulse). One special mention I would like to make is that CBD oil may help in your recovery. At the time of this writing, the research is in its infancy, but it has been shown to reduce addictive behaviors, including for those dealing with drug withdrawals. I believe that it does reduce the intensity and irrationality of cravings, and for those who have had experiences with drugs, CBD may help restore the body to a healthier equilibrium. From what I know, it can make a difference. It takes the edge off of withdrawal symptoms, reduces the power of urges and strange thoughts, and dulls the pain. Even if it is just a placebo, do whatever you can to make yourself feel better. Use any mental edge in your favor. Don’t try CBD expecting it to be some miracle drug – the effects are very subtle, perhaps even just an artifact of the mind. But it looks like it has the ability to reduce the frequency and intensity of the impulsive thoughts that can put people down a bad path. If it is legal in your area, it may be worth a try.
