Customer: Yes, I’d like to take / get / make a withdrawal from my account please.
2. Bank manager: Is your company getting / making / taking money?
Business customer: Yes. We are in profit. So I have a firm / steady / strong income.
3. Teenage son: Dad, will you lend me money to buy a car?
Father: Well, money is rather slim / hard / tight at the moment. Ask your mother.
4. Aziz: These cameras aren’t as expensive as I thought.
Bekzod: That’s because they use film. They are going / asking / giving cheap right now because everyone is buying digital cameras, which are ridiculously expensive because they are in such low / short / little supply.
III. Translate the text and retell it. Money survey
Now, as Bob pointed out, the whole point of the survey was to find out more about young people's attitudes to money. As we all know, we aren't attracting as many young customers as we’d like to, and we hope this survey will help us improve our advertising campaign.
We interviewed a total of 1,200 young people between the ages of eighteen and 25. The interviews took place mainly in shopping centers, university student unions and multiplex cinemas. You can see a copy of the survey at the back of the report. The first two questions were very open and there were no surprises in the answers. When we asked if money was important to them, of course most people said that it was, but that it wasn’t the only important thing.
So, as I said, no surprises there. I imagine we’d get the same answer from any group of people no matter how young or old. And the second question was pretty predictable as well. When we asked them if they worried about money most of the people we questioned said yes. So far so good.
