Of no less interest is the solution of the problem of determining the readiness of radio 
communication channels in the zone radio networks of technological railway radio communication. 
For example, in station radio communication networks designed to control the technological processes 
of railway stations. In this case, the radio communication system will include only three elements: a 
stationary radio station, a locomotive radio station and a radio channel. 
For the case of a zone radio network, the value of the availability factor of the communication 
channel is calculated according to the method described above for each point taken on the territory of 
the station with a certain discrete distance step. Using the set of values of the availability factors of 
communication channels for all calculated points, it becomes possible to build a complete three-
dimensional (or gradient) map of the availability of communication channels throughout the station. 
And limiting the area of such a map to a certain threshold value of the communication channel 
availability factor will make it possible to display the radio network availability zone by analogy with 
the traditional radio coverage zone of a radio communication network. 
4. Discussion and analysis of results 
The use of the described approach to assessing the reliability of a train radio communication channel 
makes it possible, taking into account the real configuration of radio communication networks, to 
determine the values of the availability factors of radio channels both along railway sections and on 
the territory of large railway facilities. Corresponding calculations can be performed both at the design 
stage of radio networks and during their operation, which may be required in the case of 
modernization of the radio communication network with the installation of new equipment or the 
introduction of redundancy of individual elements of the system. It becomes possible to monitor the 
compliance of the calculated values of the reliability characteristics of radio networks with their 
standard values.
