In 1497 he attempted to overthrow Baisunghar Mirza together with his brother Darwish Muhammad, but the riot was stopped and his brother was executed. Muhammad Mazid escaped to Bukhara. He returned and became the “ulugh beg (highest royal noble)” when Sultan Ali Mirza set on the throne in 1498. He was responsible to set every title in the kingdom which were loyal him personally. Camping out not far from Samarkand he sent Mir Mughal for Babur promising him to contribute seizing Samarkand. Babur came and they met in the place called Khan Yurti near Samarkand in 1499. They planned to attack Samarkand but the plan was not realized. Sultan Ali handed Samarkand willingly without fight. Affected by such course of events Muhammad Mazid went to Khusrau Shah. Soon Babur seized Samarkand himself in 1500. Hearing the news Muhammad Mazid returned to Samarkand. He participated in the battle near Saripul which was ended with Babur’s defeat. He went to Hisar. When Babur seized Samarkand for the third time in 1501 Muhammad Mazid returned to Babur’s service and was killed in the battle near Kuli Malik.
