22. Can you suggest your own definition of a set expression? Give examples
Set-expression is a word-group consisting of two or more words whose combination is integrated as a unit with a specialized meaning of the whole. Set-expressions are characterized by stability, i.e. they’re fixed and ready-made nature, and polylexicality, i.e. consisting of more than one lexical unit.

  3. meaning is partially or fully-non motivated;

  4. the whole expression functions as single syntactic unit;

  5. discourse is predictable;

  6. can have both denotational (free) and connotational (transferred) meanings;

  7. often have stylistic meanings (emotional, evaluative, functional, pragmatic)
