Expression of Conditional Relations in the Sentences with Gerundial Constructions

The article under consideration dwells on the structural-semantic peculiarities of gerundial 
constructions with a circumstantial meaning of condition in modern Russian. The sentences 
complicated by participial constructions with a circumstantial meaning of condition are subjected to 
analysis. The term referred as "Gerundial Construction" designates both the latter and a single 
gerund. The author of the article discloses those lexical-semantic components in sentences with 
gerundial constructions which can be qualified as means of formation and expression of conditional 
communication. 
 Conditional relations in sentences with gerund are established on the grounds of gerundial 
construction content with the rest part of the sentence under participation of lexical, morphological, 
lexical and syntactical means. In her article the author analyzes only lexico-grammatical means. 
Proceeding from common knowledge provision beset with structural and semantic 
correlation of participial phrases and subordinate clauses, selection of linguistic material was made 
by the way of experiment that of substitution of a subordinate clause of condition for a gerundial 
construction.
