part of h u m a n life. You could even go so far as to say that it's the very
reason w h y w e ' r e here.
Every day y o u ' r e compelled to make connection decisions. By
your actions y o u decide w h a t to link up with and w h a t to avoid. Will
y o u talk to your spouse or connect with the television? Will y o u take
your next vacation at a favorite spot or go someplace n e w this time?
Will y o u bond with a pet or go to a party? W h e n e v e r y o u choose to
make o n e connection, y o u simultaneously choose not to connect with
all of the other possibilities.
If y o u w a n t to g r o w consciously, y o u must deliberately decide
w h i c h connections you'll strengthen and w h i c h you'll allow to w e a k e n .
S u c h choices ultimately determine the shape of your life. In the long
run, your life becomes a reflection of w h a t y o u choose to connect
with most often. W h e n y o u feel g o o d about your connections, y o u
c o m e into greater alignment with the principle of love.
In addition to connection, there are t w o other major aspects of
love: communication and communion. In the upcoming sections, we'll
explore all three of these elements.
