5.6 Managing the Team
It should be clear that you have to face many difficulties when you start 
the composition of the group work. Difficulties often occur at the start of a 
project; to overcome this, you must enhance the interrelationship between 
the working group as soon as possible. These difficulties vary according to 
the size of team, as it is different for a team of five members and 50 mem-
bers. You must pay attention to the following in order to overcome conflict 
and get the highest productivity from the team:
• Lack of clarity regarding responsibilities
• Lack of equal distribution of work between team members
• Lack of clarity in the allocation of work for each activity
• Lack of understanding of any of the stages of the project
• Overall objectives of the project are not clear
• Lack of trust between team members
• No continuous and strong contact between the team members

• Lack of guidance for the members
• No interest in the quality of work
• Objectives of individuals differ from the objective of the 
project.
Trying to overcome the above items will ensure a high probability of 
success for the team.
5.7 Allocate Resources to Project Plan
Now, we want to distribute the available resources at different stages of 
the project and the scheduled plan is obtained after the work of planning 
for the project as a whole is performed. Then, allocate the resources you 
have on the activities of the project. This will be explained in the following 
example.
5.7.1 Example
We will use the same example as discussed previously in Chapter 4 for time 
management. The project is to install a mechanical package and connect it 
with piping as shown in Table 5.1. From this table we can define the rela-
tionship between the project activities.
Figure 5.6 shows the critical path of this project through the project 
plan. Table 5.2 shows the early and late times for the beginning and 
end of each activity and the time which any activity can move within
