No doubt, if you come to Russia with a very limited ability to speak and understand by
ear, you would appreciate how it was important for you at least to learn
reading and
comprehending all sorts
of public signs and notices, so that in many cases you would be
able to avoid torturing yourself and others by trying to ask questions and then trying even
harder to understand the answers.
