Abstract.

The article presents project management process. This analysis will present, in simplified terms, a
way how to prepare to manage project. As an example is describe Kanban method.

The research methods used include
a review of the current literature on the subject and a SWOT analysis.

Keywords:

project, management, project management, Kanban.

Introduction
Managing a project team involves harmonizing of activities performed on its behalf with an intent of achieving
goals in a manner that is efficient, i.e., using resources (including human capital) wisely and without unnecessary waste,
and effective i.e., leading to an intended result [16].
Project management is a relatively young discipline. The history of project management reaches back to the
19th century. It is related, inter alia, with works of Frederick Taylor (1856-1915) and Henry Gantt (1861-1919), a
creator of the popular Gantt chart (1910). This proves that practical problems and ways of solving them have a key
impact on the development of this discipline. Extensive projects (including the Manhattan project devoted to the
construction of the atomic bomb in 1941, the Polaris project focused improvement of military programs, or the Apollo
project, related to space projects) turned out to be particularly important in that development. They were difficult to
manage with the use of traditional methods, and thus forced the creation of new standards [40].
Currently used management techniques, methods and methodologies are constantly evolving. Hence, the
literature on the subject provides new concepts in the approach to project management and project teams, e.g., CSR
(corporate social responsibility), Agile or Scrum (virtual team management), or Kanban.
This work is theoretical and empirical in nature. It is based on the following research methodology:

Literature analysis: As part of the theoretical analysis, Polish and foreign publications on the management
were reviewed.

Web resource analysis: Many materials and examples of the project management application are published
on the Internet, as it enables quick publication. Thus, in turn, a given publication can be reached quickly.

SWOT analysis: analysis of the overall Kanban assumptions.
The aim of this paper was to characterize the project team management. A research hypothesis was formulated
that the knowledge of available resources determines proper management of the project team. This hypothesis
was verified by reviewing the literature on the subject, and by a case study using the SWOT analysis.
