Personal Time Off
The opportunity to take paid time away from work is important for the mental and physical well- being of staff members. Personal time off (PTO) is paid leave that may be charged by employees for time away from work for rest and relaxation as well as for illness of the employee or family members. Employees will be entitled to 25 working days of Annual Leave with pay in a calendar year. Generally, if you are Regular-Salaried, Regular-Hourly or Temporary-Salaried, you are eligible for accrued personal time off. Accrual is prorated for part-time employees and for partial months of employment. Full-time employees accrue PTO at the rate of 2.083 for every month of service. All service as a Regular-Salaried, Regular-Hourly or Temporary-Salaried employee is included in determining an employee’s accrual rate. Time spent on military, illness or maternity/paternity leave counts in the determination of service; however, PTO is not accrued when an employee is on leave of absence. For hourly or part-time employment, Personal Time Off accrual is based on the monthly proportion of regular hours (non-overtime) worked. Employees should schedule their PTO in consultation with and after receiving approval from their supervisor. For unexpected absences, such as those resulting from illness or injury, an employee should contact their supervisor or manager as soon as possible. An employee should maintain daily communication with his/her supervisor or manager for the duration of the absence unless the supervisor or manager has agreed to a less frequent notification. Employees may carry over a maximum of 5 days of unused PTO on a yearly basis. Upon separation of employment, employees will be paid for PTO accrued but not taken, subject to withholdings required by any applicable tax laws. Payment will not include any PTO hours beyond the maximum accrual allowed per year for carryovers. All overdrawn PTO will be deducted from an employee’s final paycheck. If there are insufficient funds in an employee’s final paycheck to cover the overdrawn PTO, the employee must make arrangements with his/her supervisor to repay the borrowed amount. An employee may not use accrued PTO to delay the effective termination date or to extend other benefit coverage beyond their last working day. An employee may not sell his/her PTO to another employee. Uzbekistan LN Employee Handbook February 2020 8 Salary Review All eligible employees will receive an annual salary review.
