ROLE OF CONFERENCE INTERPRETER IN THE FIELD OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS Nuralieva F (SamSIFL, student of master degree) Abstract The purpose of this article is to analyze the role of simultaneous interpreter in international relations. The article discusses the notions of linguistics, simultaneous conference interpreting, and interpreter. We also studied the main types of simultaneous conference interpreting, the functions of an interpreter and presented the norms of behavior in negotiations and at official meetings. We looked into the difficulties of the profession of a simultaneous interpreter and, in this regard, proposed possible options for removing or minimizing them. We also touched on the topic of the history of the emergence of simultaneous conference interpreting, which replaced consecutive interpreting. With this article, we tried to outline what skills are necessary to become an interpreter. We also drew attention to the aspect of the emotionality of the interpreter and their influence on negotiations. In conclusion, we proved the importance of simultaneous conference interpreting in the field of international relations. Simultaneous interpretation, as a professional activity, began to appear at the beginning of the XX century. This was due to the emergence of international organizations of the League of Nations and the UN. The popular American businessman, known under the pseudonym Edward Filene, first proposed to replace the consecutive translation existing at that time. It was he who came up with the idea of the very specifics of the work of the new direction of the translator's activity, which consists in finding people of this specialty in booths equipped with everything necessary for high-quality work. Of course, a large number of people on our planet know and speak English, but this is not enough to successfully, and most importantly, to 78 translate various texts with high quality, and even more so to be a "simultaneous interpreter", that is, a person who owns one of the most complex types of translation. It should be noted that the essence of the work in our specialty is not only the correct translation of grammatical structures and the selection of analogs of words and phrases, but also taking into account the culture of the people, on which language is being translated. Based on the above, it should be said that, first of all, translation from one language into another language is also a translation from culture to culture. The specifics of the work of a synchronist is first of all, revealed in its functions. First of all, the interpreter creates a text in the target language, while participating in the process of speech communication. At the same time, the owner of this profession is the creator of the text that fully replaces the original in its semantic, functional and structural values. One way or another, in our opinion, its fundamental and paramount function is the qualitative interpretation of the meaning of the speaker's words into another necessary language. When translating a text, the translator performs the following functions. The main or even the most important is the analysis of speech units and whole segments of speech of a foreign language. An equally unimportant function is the selection by the translator of the corresponding equivalent units in the target language, as well as the construction of speech works in the target language, comparable to the speech works of the source language. It is worth specifying the importance of translation in international communication between states. In this area, correct translation is a very important element of negotiations and can affect their effectiveness. According to Pavel Tsygankov, with whom we cannot but agree, international relations are associated with the origin of nations, the formation of interstate borders, the formation and change of political regimes, the formation of various social institutions, the enrichment of cultures, the development of art, science, technological progress and effective economies, which in turn closely interact with trade, financial, cultural and other exchanges, interstate alliances, diplomatic contacts and military conflicts. By international relations, we mean not only business meetings between representatives of different countries, as well as symposia on various issues in the field of international relations, but also we can talk about commercial and non-profit organizations of different countries that cooperate with each other to achieve their goals. For example, some 79 organizations supply products or things from other countries, and in these situations the role of a simultaneous interpreter will be no less important. In many educational institutions there are international programs that provide for the arrival of representatives of different states in order to exchange knowledge and invaluable experience, which will improve the quality of education of students of different training profiles. A synchronist in these areas will be able to create a comfortable environment for the participants and help them find a common language. An important aspect when negotiating in a foreign language is the transfer of emotionality. In situations where one of the parties speaks out towards the opponent negatively or even uses obscene language, while emotionally coloring it, the simultaneous interpreter should not only smooth out the “sharp” corners of speech, but at the same time find another interpretation in order to convey basic information to the interlocutor ... Sometimes the translator needs to "omit" emotionally charged words in order to achieve the desired result from the negotiations. Speaking about the very specificity of the specialty we are studying, it is worth saying how complex and diverse it is. This profession has several varieties. The first and the most basic one is, in fact, there are simultaneous interpreters. These people are usually at large international events with many foreign nationals. The most important difference from other varieties is the presence of special equipment (a booth, headphones and a special microphone for an interpreter). Next comes whispering. In this case, the translator sits next to the recipient and informs him of the text of the translation in an undertone. Joking is used for a very small group of people or even for one person. Another type of simultaneous translation is sight translation. It can also be called written interpretation. The translator receives the original text and in the process of translation can focus not only on the speaker's speech, but also on the text document of his speech. The last of the types of simultaneous translation is the simultaneous reading of a previously translated text. During the translation process, the simultaneous interpreter can correct his translation and make some corrections depending on the speech of the speaker. Based on the classification, we understand how complex and, most importantly, demanded human activity in the field of international relations. A simultaneous interpreter must not only be fluent in oral speech, but also be able to correctly and correctly translate in writing. Based on the above, an 80 important aspect is how correctly the simultaneous interpreter will find analogs of the language into which he is translating. You should pay attention to the difficulties in this area of activity. Translators require incredible attention span. This is due to the fact that a simultaneous interpreter participating in large and serious events must simultaneously listen and reproduce the information heard, but in a different language, taking into account the grammatical and stylistic norms of this language. From this we can conclude that very often translators experience a split of attention, and mistakes are made during the translation process. So, an example of translator's mistakes can be the following statements: University of Cuba in Krasnodar (instead of Kuban University), part-time education (instead of at a distance), commercial and industrial paratha (instead of a chamber), projects are aimed at (instead of at), intercultural level (instead of intercultural), etc. The second difficulty lies in the fact that a person must have a very quick reaction. A simultaneous interpreter every second must perceive information and reproduce it in another language, he does not have time to think about what he has to say. The peculiarity is that a person is simply obliged to possess a large number of synonyms and analogs, using them in translation, therefore simultaneous interpreters translate not through analysis or in other words thinking, but through conditioned reflexes. Another difficulty in the profession is high mental stress. It is connected with the fact that a simultaneous interpreter does not have the opportunity to ask again what he did not understand or did not hear. Also, during their speech, many speakers resort to using jokes or fixed phrases in their native language. In this case, the problem may be that a joke or a stable phrase may not have an analogue in another language at all, and the translation of the audience will not be understandable at all. In this case, the interpreter will take much longer and will likely lose momentum and be behind the speaker. Based on all of the above, we understand that this kind of human activity can be called one of the most difficult in our modern world. We can offer some options that can simplify it. It may be worth setting boundaries for the speaker's text. In order to avoid misunderstanding of different cultures, the speaker's speech should not contain jokes or fixed phrases that, as a result, will not be understood by the audience, but then the speaker's speech may become boring and 81 uninteresting. Due to the fact that a simultaneous interpreter is under great stress and the work is intense, we can propose to create a certain device that will instantly record the speaker's speech and transfer it as text on the monitor screen. In this case, the translator will be able to look at the word or phrase that he did not hear or did not remember and will continue to translate at the desired pace. Since our world is constantly evolving, and much attention is paid to the development of nano-technologies, the translator may face such a problem as replacing him with a robot. Modern society cannot imagine its daily life without the use of various gadgets. Also, many resort to using different electronic translators. Nevertheless, in our opinion, a robot cannot completely replace a human, since very often emotionality and intonation affect the meaning of the translation. As far as simultaneous interpreters are concerned, this profession will always be unique and irreplaceable. First, if we are talking about electronic translators or machines that have the ability to translate from language into language, then we must take into account the fact that they have a program that may not always work correctly, which we often see in the existing "Google translator" and "Yandex translator". In case of any changes, the machine will in no way be able to adapt to the speaker and correct the translation or make changes. The human brain is a unique organ that can work in different directions. The profession of a translator has never been built on monotonous and schematic systems for using translation. This is due to the fact that the speech of any people is very diverse, where there is a large number of grammatical turns, proverbs and fixed expressions. Throughout the article, we have in one way or another considered the linguistic aspect that should be taken into account when translating. This means the selection of correct and accurate equivalents of the language into which the translation is carried out, as well as the observance of cultural realities and the specifics of the language from which the translation is carried out. Compliance with all of the above aspects will lead to an accessible, and most importantly, understandable translation. In this article, we examined the concepts of simultaneous translation, international relations. The main types of simultaneous interpretation and their features were also considered. The main functions of a simultaneous interpreter were presented, as well as the norms of etiquette during business meetings. We came to the conclusion that the role of a simultaneous interpreter in international relations is very important for the modern world. 82 As arguments, we gave examples of the fact that even the age of technology cannot replace the synchronist, because only a person can convey intonation, which is a very important aspect in communication between peoples. We found out that in simultaneous translation it is important not only to be fluent in one language or another, but also to have many other qualities, for example, stress resistance, to have a very quick reaction and to understand interpersonal communication with representatives of different cultures. In conclusion, we can say that the profession of a simultaneous interpreter plays a significant role in the field of international relations. A simultaneous interpreter who loves his profession, as well as who knows how the language works, will always be in demand in the field of international relations. Download 2.8 Kb.
