INTRODUCTION
The newspaper headline is an attention grappling title for newspaper article that can explain the news story in a concise and attractive way. It is “the shop window display of newspaper”, as White and Herra(2009:135)have proposed. Headlinesare the first signpostthat any newspaper reader will stop at and sometimes they are the only one. Headlines are catchy phrases or sentences that open the newspaper's discourse and get the reader‟s interest by their special form and content(Al-Salmany,2000:14).Or as Fries (1987;cited in Pajunen,2008:8)indicates, headlines are the starting points depending on which the reader can infer some expectations about the topic of the article.Headlines are special type of text that can outline the reading process and figure out what to read and what to pass by. They have to fulfill numerous functions following certain rules that impede not only the headline writers ,but also their shape and grammar like the layout of the page, the type face and so on(Reah,1998:13).Thus heading is so crucial that almost every newspaper has specialists in heads‟ writing ,which is indeed, not an easy task
There are a number of requirements for creating text, the most important of which is choosing a headline that fits the text. Headline is the main position of the text. The function of this important element is to influence the addressee’s admissions process. From the point of view of the headline, the approach to the title helps to understand the structure of the header and its features. It is important to consider the position of the recipient. Because each recipient is a separate person and takes the key points in the process of learning material through words. As we know, the headline is the beginning of a dialogue between the author and the reader. The extent to which he/she grabs the attention of the reader ( interviewer) is so relevant to the problem of information efficiency and effectiveness. “ The headline is a very important and primary means of communicating with the reader. The more attractive it is, the faster and more effective it becomes”. Today, no publication can do without a headline, but its role has grown significantly since the first headings appeared. Now this is not only navigation, and not even information about the text, but a way of attracting the reader’s attention and encouraging him to read this or that material.
