Yuqoridagidan shu narsa ma'lum boʻladiki, oʻtgan zamonda asosiy va yordamchi fe'llar hamma shaxslar uchun bir xil.
Oʻtgan zamonda to be fe'lining oʻz shakllari (was/were) mavjud boʻlib, inkor va soʻroq gaplarda did yordamchi fe'li qoʻllanmaydi.
▪Positive form: I/he/she/it was We/you/they were
▪Negative form: I/he/she/it was not We/you/they were not
▪Question form: Was I/he/she/it...? Were we/you/they...?
Misol:
I wasn't at home yesterday. (I didn't be…. emas)
Past simple tense qo'llanish holatlari
1. Mazkur zamonning o'ziga xosligi shundaki, odatda oʻtgan zamon payt ravishlari bilan qo'llaniladi, ya'ni ish-harakat(voqea) o'tgan zamonda sodir bo'lganligi payt ravishlari bilan yaqqol ko'rsatiladi.
We went to the theatre last week. (Biz o'tgan hafta teatrga bordik)
I saw Jack at the cinema yesterday.
I didn't go out last night.
2. Shu bilan birga, o'tgan zamon payt ravishlarisiz, tarixda sodir boʻlgan voqealar uchun qollaniladi. Bu vaziyatda matn mazmunidan ish-harakat tarixda sodir bo'lganligi anglashiladi:
Aristotel was a great philosopher. (Aristotel juda o'tkir faylasuf bo'lgan)
Shakespeare wrote Hamlet.
The Chinese invented printing. (Xitoylikdan kitob bosishni kashf qilishgan)
▪Oʻtgan zamonning odatiy payt ravishlari quyidagilardan iborat:

yesterday in the 1960's the other day
in the 19thcentury in the past just now
in the Bronze Age in the Middle Ages the last time
'just now' payt ravishi "hozirgina, '"bir necha daqiqa oldin" ma'nolarida o'tgan zamonda qo'llaniladi.
