MANG’IT (Eng. Manghit) – It is one of the Turkic tribes. They lived in the territory of Dashti Qipchaq, the larger part between the rivers Volga and Ural about XIIIth century. Most part of the tribe gained the Turkic-qipchaq dialect losing their own language affected by the qipchaqs. At the end of XIVth century they established independent “urda”(kingdom) called “Manghit urda”. They began to be called as “noghai”(nughai) since the mid of XVth century, so their horde also took the name of “Nughai urda”. In the middle of the XVIth century the kingdom divided into two parts “Katta Nughai” and “Kichik Nughai” hordes. Later the tribe joined nations such as Uzbek, Qazaq, Qaraqalpaq and other nationalities [“B”, p. 124; on folio 162 a].

MARV (Eng. Marv) - It is a name of ancient city in Khorasan (presently Mari city, in the territory of the Republic of Turkmenistan). It was completely ruined during the Mughal conquest. Shahrukh reconstructed the city in 1409 and built a dump in the Murghab river to get water through canal till Marv with length about 70 kms. The city was included into kingdom of Sultan Husain in XVth century. Several events connected with the history of Marv were described in Baburname. Such as, depiction of battle between Shaibani-Khan and Ismail Safavi in 1510, Babur’s elder sister was in Marv at that time, Safavi sent her to Babur’s palace with a great respect [“B”, p. 9 on folio a]. Also times when Abulmuhsin Mirza ruled the city in 1526; later Ubaidulla-Khan’s seizing the city in 1528; The Shaibanids march against Ismail Safavi with the army about 105 000 soldiers and etc.

MARVA (Eng. Marva) - It is a name of the mountain from the North of the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. All the pilgrims perform religious ceremony called “sa’y” (running to and fro) between mounts Safa and Marva. The ceremony was described in the part “Kitabul haj” of the book “Mubain”.
