  1. Ought to” modal fe’li “should” modal fe’liga sinonim hisoblanadi. Farqi: “should” modal fe’lidan keyin infinitive <> ishlatilmaydi: <> ; <>

  • Do you think I ought to apply for the job?(=Do you should I apply for the job?)

  • Javlon ought not to go to bed so late. (Javlon shouldn’t go….)

  • It was a great party last night . You ought to have come.

  • She’s been studying hard for the exam, so she ought to pass.




  1. “should” bir necha fe’llardan keyin qo’llanishi mumkin, ular asosan :

demand recommend insist suggest propose





  • They insisted that we should have dinner with them—Ular bizni o’zlari bilan ovqatlanishimizni qattiq talab qilishdi.

  • I demanded that he should apologise—Men uning uzr so’rashini qattiq talab qildim

  • What do you suggest I should do?—Menga nima qilishni taklif qilasiz?

Note: Ushbu gaplar garchi qo’shma gap bo’lsa-da, o’zbek tiliga sodda gap tarzida tarjima qilinadi



  1. Sifatlar bilan <> tarzida gaplar tuzish mumkin:

  • It is essential that everybody should be here on time.—Hamma o’z vaqtida shu yerda bo’lishi lozim

Note : Ba’zi holatlarda “should” tushib qolishi ham mumkin:



  • It’s essential that everybody be here on time (=It is essential that everybody should be….)

  • I demanded that he apologise (=I demanded that he should apologise)

Note: Ushbu gaplarda present va past zamonlarini ham yasash mumkin:

      1. “suggest” fe’lidan keyin <>shakli ishlatilmaydi:

  • What do you suggest we should do? Or What do you suggest we do?(not: What do you suggest us to do?)

  • G’anisher suggested that I (should) buy a new car. Or G’anisher suggested that I bought a new car (not: G’anisher suggested me to buy a new car)




      1. “Suggest” fe’lidan keyin gerundiya ishlatilishi mumkin:

  • “If”li gapda “should “ qo’llanishi ish-harakatning sodir bo’lish ehtimoli oz ekanligini ifodalaydi:

  1. Ushbu gaplarda “If” tushub qolishi va “should” gap boshida qo’llanishi mumkin:

Note: << I should …/ I shouldn’t>>--Men (sening o’rningda bo’lganimda biron ish) qil(ma)gan bo’lardim.(Maslahat berishda ishlatiladi)



  • “Shall I leave now?” “No, I should wait a bit longer”

  • “I’m going out now. Is it cold?” “Yes, I should wear a coat”

  • I shouldn’t stay up too late. You’ll be tired tomorrow.
