Pupil’s book, Workbook, the DVD, two sets of cards with letters A to N
Activity 1 Listen and sing.
Objectives: to warm up; to revise days of the week.
Look at Unit 2, Lesson 1 Activity 1 for the instructions.
Activity 2 Play “Run and take”.
Objective: to revise the letters learnt so far (A – N)
STEP 1: Prepare two sets of cards with the letters A-N and put them on the table. Mix them all up.
STEP 2: Ask the pupils to stand in two rows at the same distance from the table. Say that when you say a letter, for example “M”, the first pupils from each row must run and find the letter. The winner is the pupil who is the first to find the letter.
Activity 3 Read and match.
Objective: to consolidate vocabulary
Ask the pupils to open their Workbooks and match the pictures and words by drawing lines between them as shown. After they finish matching, have the pupils repeat the words after you in chorus.
Optional Activity 4 Work in pairs. Play “Jump a word”.
Objective: to revise the letters learnt so far (A – N)
Ask the pupils to look at the picture. Say that the pupils will play the game in pairs. Say that they will practise “writing” the words (the pictures are hints). Say that the example will help them to understand. Pupil A: ball. Pupil B: must “jump” fromletter to letter spelling: B – A – L – L. You can also play the DVD to show how to do the activity correctly.
Homework
1) Draw the pupils’ attention to the optional activity (crossword) on Page 18 in their Workbooks. Explain that they should find the words next to the crossword from the grid as shown in the example.
2) Now draw the pupils’ attention to Homework Activity 1 on Page 19 in their Workbooks. Ask if it is clear. If necessary, explain that the letters of the words are jumbled. They should guess and write the words. Some of them are already done for help.
3) Draw the pupils’ attention to Homework Activity 2. Explain that they should draw lines between the letters in the order they learned during the previous lessons. After that they should colour the balloons.
