ONNECTIONS 
 
In order to enable connection of the Dzhankeldy Wind Farm to the grid, the Project will require 
its own electrical connection facility that will consist of a 500kV switchyard and a 33kV 
substation within the Project site (as described above). These electrical connection facilities 
will be located within the eastern plot of the Project site and will enable connection of the 
Wind Power Plant to an overhead transmission line (OHTL) with a rating of 500kV single circuit. 
This OHTL will run from the Project site to Bash Project site approximately 94km east of the site.
Some of the Project facilities will be shared between ACWA Power’s Dzhankeldy 500MW Wind 
Farm and the Bash 500MW Wind Farm (subject of a separate ESIA). The Project facilities to be 
shared between the two Projects include: 
 
Overhead Transmission Lines 
 
500kV Pooling Switch Sub-station (located within Bash Wind Farm). 
Additional details of the overhead transmission line and 500kV Pooling switch sub-station is 
provided in the Overhead Transmission Line Sub-section below. 
2.3.2 
Overhead Transmission Line
In order to enable connection of the Dzhankeldy Wind Farm to the grid, the Project will 
connect to an overhead transmission line with a rating of 500kV single circuit that will run from 
the Project site to Bash Project site approximately 94km east of the site. From the Bash site, 
power will be transferred to the Qurako’l substation. 
At this stage, It is understood that the proposed overhead transmission line (OHTL) will be a 
total of 290.5km in length. Approximately 128.5km of the OHTL will run from Dzhankeldy project 
site to Bash project site (see blue line in figure below( and approximately 162km will run from 
Bash site to an existing substation in Qurako’l (see green line in figure below).
