ANNOTATION OF THE DISSERTATION
Actuality of the theme – this master’s dissertation is devoted to the investigations of the structural and linguacultural properties of speech in English and a new approach to the problem.Speech is the actual realization of the language in which the linguistic, linguacultural and extralinguistic factors play a great role. The relationship between spoken language and written language is complex. Within the field of linguistics the current consensus is that speech is an innate human capability while written language is a cultural invention. However some linguists argue that written and spoken language possess distinct qualities which would argue against written language being dependent on spoken language for its existence.The actuality of the research may be formulated in the following points:
- the existence of different views on speech in English;
-the need to find out typical features of spoken and written forms of speech;
- the necessity to solve the problems of defining the types of speech;
- to establish the role of extralinguistic factors and their participation in speech;
- the relations of speech units with the language units.
The aim of the researchis to investigate the nature of speech, define its characteristic features and classify them.
The object of the researchis the orthoepic and orthographic forms of speech in English.
