Guidelines for TESL 5220 Final Project

Guidelines for TESL 5220 Summative Assessment:
Lesson Plan Development Project
The Lesson Plan Development Project pulls together aspects learned and developed throughout TESL 5220. As you prepare your summative assessment, be certain that all required elements are clearly labeled and that you address all described elements in this assignment description and the rubric. For this assignment, use your lesson plan template that you created for the Week 4 formative assessment. Be certain that you have addressed any feedback provided by your instructor on your lesson plan format. You will develop a lesson plan for a target group of learners. Your lesson plan must clearly and accurately differentiate appropriate content and language objectives that will meet the needs of your learners (based on your needs assessment). Then you will develop a series of activities or tasks that will address your objectives.
Description of Learners (aligned to TESOL Standard 2) Select and describe your target group of learners in sentence and paragraph format (e.g., number of learners, age, grade, language level, language learning background, target class, instructional setting, etc.)
Objectives (aligned to TESOL Standard 1). Write at least two content objectives and at least two language objectives that can realistically be addressed in your lesson plan. Be certain to clearly distinguish your objective types (i.e., put content objectives after or under the title “content objectives” and language objectives after or under the title “language objectives”). You may use the objectives written for the Week 5 formative assessment, but be certain to address any feedback provided by your instructor. Be certain that your language objectives explicitly address more than one language skill. Annotate each language objective based on the annotations learned in TESL 5139 and practiced in this class (Relevant annotations for language objectives will be: Reading [R], Writing [W], Listening [L], Speaking [S], Focus on Form [F], Vocabulary [V], and Pronunciation [P]). See the annotations for the TESOL program and Week 5 - Videos on Annotations
