Assessment considerations (TESOL Standard 4)
Low points may be assessed for reflections that do not address assessment, a set of standards, or framework (or that simple name one without a clear context or intention)
An assessment, set of standards, or framework was named, but it was not clear how it was relevant for the target learners and/or for lesson plan development
The reflection names a relevant assessment, set of standards, or framework that was referenced; at least one detail makes clear how it informed planning decisions (though additional justification may be needed)
The reflection makes explicit reference to a relevant assessment, set of standards, or framework that has been considered and/or referenced for the needs assessment, the language objectives, and instruction
Justifications (TESOL Standard 5)
Lower points may be assessed for assignments that provide minimal or no justifications
There were a few statements to justify decisions made in lesson planning, but these may have been more from experience and intuition and not based in a needs assessment and materials covered in this course
Justifications for lesson plan development decisions are included; there is mention of a needs assessment; additional details may be needed, or several details may not have been accurate or relevant (e.g., citing one syllabus style but developing in a different style)
Clear justification is provided for choices in lesson plan development, including creating original and/or modifying pre-existing material; decisions made were clearly based on a detailed needs assessment and informed by a relevant syllabus design and language instruction methodology
