MAHDIYHOJA (Muhammad) Eng. Mahdi kwaja Muhammad) – He was one of the nobles of Babur, husband of Hanzada Begim, Babur’s elder sister. He participated in the Batlle of Kanwa. Babur ordered him to seize the treasure of Delhi after the battle of Panipat [“B”, on folio. 267 b]. Madhi Kwaja was set as ruler of Biyona province in 1526. He had no any children from Hanzada Begim, though he had a son called Ja’far Kwaja, who also served Babur from his other wife. There was mentioned that Mahdi Kwaja was arrested and droven away from the state affairs for his attempt to the throne after Babur’s death in the book “Tabaqoti Akbariy”(1530).

MAHMAND (LAR) – It is a name of Afghan tribe who inhabited around Kabul [“B”, on folio. 140 a].
MAHMUD – He was one of the slaves under Shaibani-Khan. Shaibani-Khan went to Khwarizm after he conquered Qunduz, leaving the country to Qambarbi in 1504. Qambarbi sent Mamud in intention to conquer Badakshan too. Begs of Badakshan led by Mubarak-Shakh killed Mahmud and his people [“B”, on folio. 154 b].

MAHMUD BARLOS (Eng. Mahmud Barlas) – He was one of the Barlas beg(noble)s. Firstly he was in the service of Sultan Abusaid as a ruler of Kirman province. When Oqquyunli tribes conquered Kirman province in 1469, Mahmud Barlas came to Hisar and took service of Sutlan Mahmud Mirza. When Abubakr Mirza attacked Hisar, Mahmud Barlas showed a great courage in defending the fortress. This fact was mentioned in Baburname Mahmud Barlas remained to defend the fortress when Sultan Husain attacked Hisar, while ruler of the province Baisunghar Mirza escaped to Samarkand. After the blockade lasted two months Mahmud Barlas could make agreement with enemy in 1496. Mahmud Barlas was also famous with his poetry too. There was given information that he created poems in “noma(letter)” poetry in the book “Majolisun-nafois”. Babur wrote that he compiled his own Divan.
