Accidents at Work
If an employee has an injury at work or during working hours (however minor) he/she must inform his/her supervisor immediately and a written report of the accident must be completed. If the accident occurs away from the workplace during off work hours, standard sick leave procedures should be followed. If an employee becomes aware of a colleague requiring immediate medical attention, he/she should ensure that an ambulance is called as soon as possible and notify the supervisor. If the supervisor is not available, the project director should be notified. Employees should ensure report any accidents that nearly occur or safety hazards to their supervisors so that they can alleviate the potential risks. Fire Precautions RTI Uzbekistan) will appoint a designated person who will be responsible to coordinate response in the event of a fire or fire drill at RTI's premises. If an employee discovers a fire, he/she should: • Break the glass of the nearest fire alarm which are situated at various points throughout the building (each employee should be familiar with the alarms located closest to his/her place of work). • Only if it is possible to do so without personal danger, the employee may try to put out the fire with the nearest fire extinguisher correct for the type of fire; if in any doubt, the employee should close doors to that fire area and evacuate the building. • If an employee is in his/her office when the fire alarm sounds, he/she should leave by the nearest emergency exit and proceed to the assembly point. Employees should NOT re- enter the building until the fire brigade officer or designated person. The designated person will carry out a roll call at the assembly point and will check that no staff remains anywhere in the building, including the toilets. Worker’s Compensation Worker’s compensation insurance provides coverage for accidental injury, illness or death arising out of and in the course of an employee’s employment. Insurance benefits may be Uzbekistan LN Employee Handbook February 2020 25 available for medical treatment, partial disability income, and burial expenses. Coverage may be available under the Defense Base Act or under local law. Individual employees are required to report all work-related injuries/illnesses immediately (within 24 hours), in writing, to their supervisors, who in turn is responsible for reporting any injury to Regional HR. |
