  1. What is the resultative function? Provide example Identify euphemistic phraseological units

Resultative function: describing reasons causing an action or state:
E.g. This was his punishment for the mistake he had made. So, he had made his bed, and now he had to lie on it. (based on the proverb “As you make your bed so you must lie on it”).
The resultative function consists in a designation of the reason which has caused an action or a condition expressed by a phraseological unit

  • To feel under the weather- to feel not very well, to feel bad

The phrase 'Under the Weather' is used when you're not feeling good. Example of Use: “I don't feel like hanging out today. I'm feeling a bit under the weather.”

  • To get stuck in a traffic jam- a situation in which a long line of vehicles on a road have stopped moving or are moving very slowly

Example:I'm stuck in a traffic jam, so I'll be late
When we are in a traffic jam we often use the phrase 'stuck in a traffic jam' meaning we cannot move forward. We are stuck. You can also just say 'stuck in traffic' without the word jam. In this version it is understood that the traffic is heavy or there is a traffic jam for some reason, causing you to get stuck.
